Multi-response optimization of magnetic abrasive finishing for AZ-31 alloy using RSM-GRA approach

Abstract A magnetic abrasive finishing is a non-traditional technology utilizes flexible brush comprises of particles under the influence field to perform nano-finishing. The material removal ( MR ) and percentage change in surface roughness (%∆ R are responses governing efficiency process. But, high during operation leads loss form/shape finished surface. compromise has be made considering two for an optimized operation. In this work, multi-response optimization was executed using grey relation analysis (GRA). objective functions considered maximize %∆ minimize . experiments were designed conducted response methodology. workpiece taken as AZ-31 alloy. conditions observed 67.43% 63 mg at working gap 2 mm, rotational speed 600 rpm, voltage 18 volts particle mesh number 400 mesh. GRA also reveals that strongest on both concurrently. ANOVA analyze significant interaction effects process parameters output responses.
